| TimTech Chemicals Limited was launched in New Zealand in 2001 and in Australia a year later. The South African and South East Asian companies were established in 2003. TimTech products are marketed in Korea through an exclusive agent.
The Chairman and major shareholder of the TimTech Group is Michael Henry, founder of the multinational Mike Henry Group of Companies. The Mike Henry Group is one of the largest independent insurance brokers in Australasia. Mike Henry is a director of several successful businesses and spends his time between his homes in Mission Bay, Queenstown & Lake Taupo.
Australasia’s leading specialty chemicals company, Chemcolour Industries (NZ) Ltd, is the second major shareholder in TimTech. Their Managing Director and major shareholder, Murray Nancekivell, is a director of TimTech. Chemcolour bring valuable manufacturing facilities, new generation products and technology directly and through their 34% ownership by the multinational Swiss Clariant Group.
Based at Muttenz near Basel, Switzerland, Clariant is a global leader in the field of fine and specialty chemicals. Some 28,000 employees in more than 100 group companies on five continents generate annual sales of over US$7 billion.
The TimTech Management Team owns the balance of the company. The team has over 300 years’ combined timber industry experience between them and have a passion to find opportunities to deliver value to their clients.
TimTech believes that technology is the key to success and longevity in wood protection. They, along with their competitors, were invited to apply for JV membership of the CRC Wood Innovations Group in Australia (CRC is a collaborative Australian research network run in association with the University of Melbourne’s School of Forestry).
TimTech were the successful applicants and thus gained exclusive access to the patented products and technologies developed by CRC.
These technologies were responsible for TimTech winning the exclusive wood preservatives supply to Carter Holt Harvey, New Zealand’s largest wood products company.
